Human Centered Government
Americans can fix ANY problem – with compromise.
Unfortunately in today’s partisan environment, “compromise” has become a bad word. The two major parties have become more and more defined by their radical beliefs, and less defined by how they improve the lives of voters. They are obsessed with winning the partisan battle, and the power that comes with it, and less and less focused on whether their policies actually benefit the people of our country. Any compromise is handing the other side a victory. For the extremes of both parties, better to deny the other side a victory than to actually deal with our problems.
In our democracy, we all have an equal right to our views and beliefs. Democracy forces us to acknowledge the humanity of all Americans. It forces us to compromise, to acknowledge and address the concerns of the people we don’t agree with to reach a solution that will be acceptable to all. It forces us to accept shades of gray. Because a compromise solution is usually the best solution for our country.
Human Centered Governance. The Forward Party stands for doing, not dividing. That means rejecting political extremes and working together to take real action on the important issue facing our country. We need innovative, collaborative, and common-sense solutions that work for the majority. Government isn’t a destination, it’s a process. Our world continues to change and evolve, and government has to change and evolve with it. That’s only possible if we work together as a country. That’s only possible if we set aside the partisan extremes that are keeping us from having real conversations about the challenges we face.
The process of government doesn’t get a lot of attention, but it’s how we reach compromise. The Forward Party is committed to Human Centered Government, to ensuring a reasonable, respectful process that gives every person a voice and reflects the needs of our country as a whole:

Again, Americans can fix ANY problem – with compromise. All stakeholders must be allowed to participate and there should be a good faith consideration of all viewpoints. The deliberation on the issue must be respectful and civil, especially to those who may disagree with the eventual policy. We all love our country. We all want to make it better. The Forward Party, a new kind of party, can again make government work for all of us.

- Embrace Diverse Thinking. We need to welcome new ideas and fearless conversations around the issues of the day. We can’t silence debate or refuse to adapt to the modern world.
- Bottom-Up, Not Top Down. Empower leaders to find solutions that work in their communities. We can’t dictate a rigid, top down policy platform and expect it to work for all Americans.
- Set Aside Partisan Extremes. Instead of trying to meet the litmus test of a party platform, find practical ways to make this country better, whether those ideas come from Democrats, Republicans, Independents or the Forward Party.
- Work Together, Not Against. Strive for collaborative solutions, make sure they work, and try something else if they don’t. We can’t ignore problems so that we can use them to drive wedges between Americans. Nothing gets done when opposing views are treated like enemy positions.
