Fixing What We Have

The United States is 240 years old, provides unparalleled individual freedom and has the largest economy in the world. Sometimes it feels like our country is in decline, as if we have lost our vigor and our direction. We reached this point because we paid less attention while our system of government was being undermined.

Our path forward is to again have government do what we know needs to be done – to get back to Democratic Capitalism. If we fix what we have, then there’s no reason the next 240 years of our history can’t be as glorious as the last 240 years. America’s time isn’t over – we just need a tune-up. 

Policy Proposal to Address AI, Automation and Offshoring: Change Employer FICA​

Our current approach to Social Security was put in place in the 1930s. Our economy has changed since then, with offshoring, gig work and automation. And now Artificial Intelligence is likely to bring even more change...
We need our Social Security system to match the reality of our modern economy. Every company that sells in the United States benefits from having Seniors to sell to and from the government’s efforts to make sure a recession doesn’t turn into a depression. Every company should pay into Social Security – it’s only fair. Basing company contributions on their US revenue instead of their US payroll would reduce the cost of employing workers and lessen the impact of automation.

Resources for Democratic Candidates

The Trump Administration presents Democrats with a unique opportunity.  For decades, the Republican Party has somehow convinced a significant number of voters that it is better at managing the economy than the Democratic Party.  Now, Trump’s sheer mismanagement and incompetence give Democrats an opening to again remind voters that it is the Democratic Party that does a better job of managing our economy – we make the free market work better.  To again remind people that the Democratic Party is the reason we have the middle class that we do.  Here are some resources for Democratic candidates to help spread the word.

Democratic Capitalism

“Democratic Capitalism” is the free market moderated by democracy to ensure everyone benefits, can participate and plays by the same set of rules.  When much of the world was debating the extremes of socialism versus unregulated capitalism, under the guidance of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, we took a middle path:  Democratic Capitalism.  The Republican Party has been gradually undermining democratic capitalism for decades’ now with Trump and DOGE we reached the suddenly stage.  Our county needs to get back to the compromise of democratic capitalism.
We as a nation need to return to the compromise of Democratic Capitalism.
