​Although this website is for Democratic Candidates, it would be good for our country if Republican candidates actually talked about Democratic Capitalism as well; at one point, even Republicans supported it.  Republicans, feel free to again talk about moderating the free market with democracy.

An Opportunity for the Democratic Party

For decades, Republicans have been working to convince voters that they are better on the economy than Democrats, even though history shows that Democratic Presidents do a better job of growing our economy and employment.  Donald Trump’s extreme incompetence gives us a chance to finally change voter misperceptions.

We Democrats seem to lead with compassion far more than we lead with economics.  Yes, the compassion matters, but we have to reconnect with voters on economic issues, remind them that it is the Democratic Party that does a better job of making their lives better.

Bubble Up Economics

 is how theory translates into a policy approach.  Almost every policy Democrats support falls under the heading of Bubble Up Economics.  THIS is the connection to economic policy that all Democratic candidates need to deploy.  We are the party of Bubble Up Economics.  We need to remind voters of that, over and over again.

We need shared Signature Issues

It’s not enough to talk about what we got right in the past.  We need signature economic issues that highlight what we will do once we are back in power.  Concrete policy proposals that highlight that the Democratic Party is the party focused on making voters’ lives better

We have to get back to Democratic Capitalism

Politics isn’t history, but the history matters.  “Democratic Capitalism” was invented by the Democratic Party, and it’s why we have the largest economy in the world.  Talking philosophy of government rarely wins elections, but it has to be the foundation of what we do talk about, and the issues we highlight.
