Blake Ashby Releases Video Affirming Support for LGBTQ Community in Pride Month

Blake Ashby, the Better Party's candidate for MO's 1st Congressional District, has released a three-minute video regarding his stance on Pride Month. Mr. Ashby has served on Ferguson's City Council and has extensive experience as an activist and volunteer in the 1st District. Additionally, he is a long-time entrepreneur and consultant who helped found some of the region's most successful technology companies, including SAVVIS and Primary Network.

In his video, Mr. Ashby expresses his support for the LGBTQ community and stresses the importance of expanding the circle of freedom to all Americans. He also emphasizes the right of every individual to be able to live their life as they want, instead of how others might want them to.

Mr. Ashby shares relatable anecdotes that have helped progress his support of this marginalized community, including his first experience witnessing a public display of affection between a same-sex couple, and watching Michael Sam kiss his male partner on ESPN in 2014. He acknowledges the personal progress he has made in understanding, accepting, and celebrating the LGBTQ community, as well as the country's advancement in this regard.

​Mr. Ashby is looking forward to attending Pride Fest later this month, where he plans on celebrating the LGBTQ community's vibrancy and impact on the St. Louis region and beyond.
